Behind the Scenes: In The Wild – GE Aviation

May 09, 2017

GE Aviation is being featured in a new video series - GE In The Wild. The series, hosted by MythBusters Adam Savage and Innovation Nation science correspondent Alie Ward, is an inside look into the development and application of world-changing technologies, including 3D printing, next-generation jet engines and software-enabled cargo shipping. Adam and Alie visit GE Aviation’s Peebles Test Operation in Peebles, Ohio. The 7,000-acre site is where the world’s largest engines go through final assembly and testing before shipping to customers. Watch the video below to see a behind the scenes look at the Aviation episode.

Chachi Robles, GE Aviation Operations Engineer, led Adam and Alie on a unique behind the scenes tour – showing them everything from large engine assembly to test cells. They even learned how to assemble carbon fiber fan blades, and helped prep an engine for delivery.

"I've always been obsessed with peeking behind the curtain and seeing how things really work, both big and small. GE gave us unbelievable access to their facilities and to their fantastic people. I could have spent another week at every single location,” said Savage.
