#ShowMeGE

July 18, 2018
The Farnborough Airshow is one of the largest airshows in the world. With more than 200,000 people in attendance, Farnborough is an important airshow to showcase aviation products and deals to customers, investors and avgeeks around the world. Farnborough gives GE Aviation a great opportunity to show off our some of our top-tier technology.

Let us show you.

LEAP

CFM’s state-of-the-art LEAP engine has world-class fuel efficiency and asset utilization. LEAP engines provide operators with a 15 percent improvement in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The fan blades are manufactured from 3D woven RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) carbon fiber composite, which makes each blade stronger and more durable. LEAP is also the first engine to utilize Additive manufacturing parts to make lighter yet stronger engines. Production will nearly double to more than 2,000 LEAP engines by 2020.

GEnx

The GEnx is the fastest-selling, high-thrust engine in GE Aviation history, as well as the best-selling engine for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. This engine features fan blades with an efficient new design, a reduced blade count (from 22 to 18 blades), and a composite fan case. It is the first commercial engine to have both a front fan case and fan blades made from carbon-fiber composite. More data is collected from the GEnx than any other engine in GE’s history. Data is collected 16 times every second, every flight. This data is used with predictive maintenance to help provide better fleet stability.

GE90

The GE90 is the first ever commercial engine to have carbon-fiber composite fan blades. These blades changed the game for commercial airline engines; they are lighter and more aerodynamic, which allows the fan blade to pull more air into the engine, making it quieter and more efficient while generating large amounts of thrust. The GE90 still holds the world record for thrust with an impressive 127,900 lbs. achieved during certification testing in 2002. This engine is the best-selling engine for the Boeing 777 aircraft family.

H75-100 Turboprop

Diamond Aircraft’s new military trainer variant, the DART-550, is equipped with GE’s H75-100 turboprop engine. This engine, which produces 550hp, features an electronic engine and propeller control (EEPC) system and a full feather MT propeller. H-series engines are optimized for utility; they thrive in rugged conditions and provide companies the peace of mind to focus on their overall mission instead of their engines.

Gulfstream Systems

GE Aviation supplies the data concentration and network, the advanced power management system, and the advanced health management system to Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation for the G500/G600 business jet aircraft. The data concentration and network for the G500/G600 builds on GE’s core computing system from the Boeing 787. The advanced health management system builds on GE’s technology that powers Gulfstream’s PlaneConnectHTM™ (Health & Trend Monitoring) system on the G650. The system will include enhanced computer monitoring of more than 9,000 parameters with real-time communications through satellite, Wi-Fi transmission and 3G/cellular.
