From #FIA16 with GE Aviation: GE's Digital Industrial Era

July 11, 2016
There’s no doubt, digital capabilities are changing the way we operate and do business. In aviation, operating the finest engines, components and systems made anywhere in the world can be improved—by the use of data and analytics.

We’re doing this by working closely with customers around the world and by opening collaboration centers in their region. An example of this collaboration is our announcement this week with flydubai as one of the first customers with digital solutions built on GE’s Predix platform. We recently implemented this Network Operations Insights solution at flydubai aimed to help flydubai minimize the impact of unavoidable delays, enhance pilot operational understanding, while optimally protecting schedules and revenue.

This is exactly how we want to work together and help customers to drive greater efficiency. This solution gives flydubai the real-time tools to understand the impact of potential operational disruptions in order to minimize an impact on their network.

During the Farnborough Air Show this week, we created a scaled digital collaboration center in our pavilion much like the centers we are building around the world.

Earlier this year, we announced the creation of the Digital Solutions business within GE Aviation to bring all of the digital expertise from across Aviation into one business. See how GE Aviation’s Digital Solutions and Predix are taking aviation productivity to the next level:

GE Aviation has historically been known for providing engines, and let’s face it; our installed base of jet engines in service is unprecedented. While providing enhanced digital capability to 35,000 GE and GE partner engines that are monitored daily, we are identifying greater productivity through faster and more accurate analytical capability. But we’re taking the business beyond the engine. Digital connectivity and our experience across Aviation enable us to work together with our customers to identify new opportunities and deliver more productivity across the aviation eco-system beyond traditional services.
